Grounded 2 Mutations Guide: Build Better Perks
A practical mutation guide for choosing perks around a weapon, a farming route, or a dangerous creature rather than blindly copying a tier list.
Equip a mutation for the activity you are about to do. A club fight, stamina-heavy route and resource run should not share one universal ranking.

Match the perk to the activity
A mutation is only useful in context. Use the row as a starting lead, then check the weapon, route and version before calling a build best.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Smasher | Combat mutation | Combat progression | A club-focused mutation example; equip it only when the activity matches the perk.Source: PC Gamer tips | Reference lead | On this page |
Cardio Fan | Stamina mutation | Combat progression | A stamina-focused example for routes where recovery is the main limiter.Source: PC Gamer tips | Reference lead | On this page |
Status is deliberately conservative: a reference lead is useful for discovery, but exact stats, drops, costs and coordinates are not upgraded to verified without a current-build check.
Choose for the activity
A combat mutation, a resource-farming mutation, and an exploration mutation can all be correct choices on the same day. Start with the task you are about to do, then choose the perk that removes its biggest risk.
If a mutation requires repeated actions to unlock or level, describe that path clearly so the player knows what will count.
Pair mutations with equipment
A perk becomes easier to evaluate when the page names the weapon, armor, food, or creature matchup it supports. Build pages will link each recommended mutation back to its own detail page.
Do not call a mutation best without stating the mode, stage, and assumptions behind the recommendation.
Version notes matter
Early Access balance changes can alter a perk's value. Every tier list or build recommendation will show its patch scope and the date it was tested.
Use this guide in a run
- 01Name the activity
A farming build and a boss build can use different perks without contradiction.
- 02Lock the core
Choose the weapon, mutation, armor, or food interaction that makes the plan repeatable.
- 03Test the fallback
Keep the route playable when the ideal drop or recipe is not available.
- 04Show the scope
State the version, mode, and assumptions behind every recommendation.
Before you commit to this route
- Name the activity and difficulty behind the recommendation
- List the core item and two realistic replacements
- Test the setup in open, crowded, and dangerous spaces
- Show the version and test date beside each claim
